Design
Interaction Designer / Product Designer
NYC, SF, or Remote
Era is building the AI orchestration layer for physical devices, and that means designing experiences that span a mobile app, a web-based partner dashboard, and an ever-expanding universe of hardware form factors we don't control. The design challenge is connecting all of it into something coherent, intuitive, and beautiful. We just raised our seed and launch with our first partner in Q2 2026.
The Role
Era's product surface is unlike anything else out there. There's our consumer app, our partner dashboard, and then the devices themselves: headphones, pendants, toys, and forms that don't exist yet. You'll own the design and experience across all of it, and at Era, that means leading product decisions, not just executing on them. This is an experience-led company. You won't be handed specs by a PM. You'll be the one shaping what we build, why, and how it feels.
What You'll Do
- Lead product and design decisions across our consumer app (mobile), our partner dashboard (web), and the experience layer that connects both to partner hardware
- Work directly with engineers daily. You're in the code reviews, the architecture discussions, and the tradeoff conversations
- Design the flows that make device setup, AI customization, and cross-device intelligence feel effortless
- Design the partner-facing dashboard experience - how brands create AI personalities, curate experiences, deploy to device fleets
- Drive product direction through design. Define what we build next based on user research, partner feedback, and your own vision
- Create a design system that's flexible enough to work across mobile, web, and wildly different hardware contexts
- Prototype interaction patterns for new device categories as partners bring them to us
- Collaborate with our Researchers in Residence to push the boundaries of what these experiences can be
What We're Looking For
- A portfolio that shows strong product design across mobile, web, and/or novel interfaces
- Experience designing systems, not just screens. You think in design systems, component libraries, and patterns that scale
- Comfort designing for contexts you can't fully control
- Experience with or strong interest in AI-powered interfaces
- Ability to work across fidelity levels, from quick wireframes to coded prototypes
- You want to lead product, not just design pixels
- Strong collaboration instincts with engineers
Nice to Have
- Experience designing companion apps for hardware products
- Background in voice UX, conversational design, or multimodal interaction
- Experience working on B2B2C products
- HCI background or experience with user research in emerging technology
- You've self-coded interactive prototypes or built physical computing projects
